Pancreatitis is an inflammatory process in the pancreas. The outflow of bile is disturbed, so that the enzymes of the gland do not penetrate and remain in the duodenum. The pancreas gradually begins to collapse, which is even threatening with death.
Every year more and more people are diagnosed with this type of disease. Pathology occurs even in adolescents. There are many reasons for developing pancreatitis, from alcohol abuse to obesity to gallstone disease. Therefore, it is very important to follow a diet during the illness.
The importance of enzymes for food digestion
For normal food digestion, the pancreatic juice is required, which is produced by the pancreas. In addition, the juice protects against the harmful effects of hydrochloric acid. It contains enzymes that break down carbohydrates, proteins and fats. If this is not done, most of the food received will be of no use to the body.
The juice contains 4 enzymes. They are noticeable in 3 stages, the activation of which occurs approximately in the first 30-60 minutes after eating. Then the activity gradually decreases and in 3-4 hours literally everything returns to the original level. When there are problems with the pancreas, the activation of enzymes occurs too early, as a result of which an inflammatory process or pancreatitis begins.
Fatty foods, consequences of abuse
Fats are found in all foods, including fruits, albeit in minimal amounts. But most of the fat is in bacon and lard. For example, 70 g of lard cover the daily fat dose that the body needs per day. It is clear that nobody will limit themselves to a few pieces of bacon a day.
Some products have hidden surprises. For example, Doctor's sausage contains 40% fat, although it is considered dietary. These products include popcorn, sauces, yogurt, and ready meals.
Nutritionists advise not to consume more than 1 g of fat per 1 kg of human weight. If the norm is not observed, obesity begins, which affects absolutely all human organs, including the pancreas. The scientists also succeeded in finding that fatty food stimulates the pleasure center of the brain. Even if a person stops consuming fat, they cannot get enough of ordinary food.
Ways to get rid of pain
Pancreatitis is accompanied by pain in the hypochondrium. It starts after you eat. This can be accompanied by weakness, belching, nausea, and even stool disorders. The first step when an attack has started is to take anticonvulsant drugs, if you know which ones. If the attack is severe, it is better to call the doctors.
After these two days, it is best to keep bed rest for 2 days. Ice can be applied to the hypochondrium. Until the attack is over, you shouldn't eat, just drink water, which should be warm.
If there is vomiting, it is better to vomit, it becomes much easier immediately. It is best to take shallow breaths and hold your breath regularly.
How long is the diet for pancreatitis?
Diet for pancreatitis does not have a clear time. It all depends on the patient's condition how quickly they recover. In the chronic form, a person usually needs to carefully monitor their diet for at least 1, 5 years.

The purpose of dietary nutrition in the presence of pancreatitis is to relieve the inflammatory process and restore the normal function of the gland. In the chronic form, food should be fed to the body every 2-3 hours. You need to drink plenty of water, up to 3 liters. Before eating, it is recommended to drink a glass of warm, clean water without gas for about 20 minutes.
It is not acceptable to use alcoholic beverages. You need to keep the amount of sugar and salt in the diet to a minimum. You can not overeat and wash off foods. It is best to grind all products thoroughly. The dishes should be at room temperature.

After fasting for 2-3 days, a light diet should be followed. The menu can be structured as follows:
- 3 days after relieving symptoms of an attack, weak tea without sugar is introduced;
- On the 5th day you can already eat mashed carrots or potatoes.
- From the 7th day, fish may be imported, but no fried or seafood.

It is permissible to consume light soups and beef between 7 and 10 days. However, they are carefully administered depending on your health. If unpleasant symptoms appear after their use, they are immediately removed from the diet.
Many doctors advise drinking oatmeal jelly from 3 or 4 days. It is low in calories but very satisfying at the same time. The drink allows you to normalize the stool and remove toxins.
Diet against pancreatitis in children
In fact, the diagnosis of pancreatitis in childhood is extremely rare. But more often it can lead to "reactive pancreatitis". These are temporary pancreatic problems associated with poor diet.
The problem is usually resolved in just a few weeks. However, during this period you need to strictly feed the child.
All products that contain chemical additives, flavors and colors are clearly displayed. No trips to public catering establishments and harmful fast food.
Fermented and salted foods, broths, natural sausages, cakes, pies and even ice cream are allowed. However, they should not be familiar to the child and can be used after the symptoms of "reactive pancreatitis" have been eliminated.
